The Year's Midnight is the final installment in Lozano-Hemmer's Shadow Box series, featuring an interactive display with computerized tracking. Named after the opening line of John Donne's mournful poem "A Nocturnal Upon St. Lucy's Day, Being the Shortest Day," the piece shows the viewer's image unaltered, except for white smoke emanating from their eyes, eventually filling the screen. Eyeballs, both live and recorded, accumulate at the bottom of the display, evoking traditional depictions of St. Lucy.
